Stopping off for a few days in the Alps seemed a good way to spend a few days before venturing into Switzerland.
The town is open all year round – a skiers paradise in winter and a popular summers destination for extreme sport enthusiasts with activities such as canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and hand gliding to name a few.
It’s a lovely town and very easy to walk round, with lots of restaurants and a few bars. The view at the top of the Arcs is spectacular and easy to get to – we took the fenicular up to Arc 1600 and decided to walk down via the hikers path. Only advice we can give is make sure you find the start of the hikers path straight away as we missed it and wandered off in the wrong direction and spent an hour wandering down the main alpine road with no pavements and trying to avoid all the cars and trucks we met at each hairpin bend!!! We eventually found the hikers route halfway down and enjoyed a lovely walk down through the woods and fields back into town for a well deserved beer!
